The basis for the arrest of Metropolitan Hilarion in the Czech Republic was an anonymous letter received by the police. This was announced by the cleric’s lawyer on Tuesday, May 26.

According to the defense lawyer, work is now underway to determine the date of receipt of the letter and its contents. The defense is also trying to find out whether the message contains information about a specific car, route and passengers.

The lawyer pointed out that the interrogation of the Metropolitan was carried out properly in the presence of the judge, the prosecutor, police officers, the Russian consul and the defense lawyer. At the same time, many circumstances of the case, including the origin of the discovered narcotic substances and the source of the anonymous letter, remain unknown. R.T.

The Czech authorities arrested the bishop of the Russian Orthodox Church on May 24 at a gas station after leaving the Church of Peter and Paul in Karlovy Vary on suspicion of transporting narcotic substances. During the search, local law enforcement officers allegedly found four containers containing a white substance in the trunk of the car.

Metropolitan Hilarion remained without food for a long time after his arrest in the Czech Republic. This was reported by the editors of the Metropolitan channel on Telegram with reference to the lawyer. According to the defence, on the evening after the arrest, food was not served until around midnight, and before that time there was no food. Breakfast was also not served on Monday morning.
