The two 12-year-old girls, who had been searching for in Tuva since July 1, were found dead. The Office of the Investigative Committee of the Republic reported on the morning of July 9 that a body, presumed to be that of one of the missing girls, had been found on the banks of the Yenisei River near the village of Sokbak in the Kyzyl region. The investigation committee soon reported that the body of the second girl had been found.
The investigation committee said: “An investigation team immediately went to the scene of the accident, so that the investigator could carry out the necessary investigative measures to determine the identity.” The investigation committee has not yet provided any information about the possible causes of the children’s death.
On July 1, two 12-year-old girls left their home in Kyzyl towards the embankment on the banks of the Yenisei River and the dam. Police, emergency services officers, dog handlers, divers and several hundred volunteers participated in the search for the children. It was reported that the girls could have drowned – the mobile phones of the missing people as well as their shoes were found on the banks of the Yenisei River.
