Russian authorities traditionally organize military parades on the occasion of May 9 in dozens of cities across the country. However, against the backdrop of a large-scale war with Ukraine, rallies in many regions have been canceled or are being prepared to be held in a smaller format. For example, in Moscow for the first time since 2007, the parade will be without military equipment. The restrictions also affected the processions of the Immortal Regiment – in some cities they will be conducted online only. Based on Russian media publications (1, 2, 3, 4, 5) and open data, Meduza has compiled lists showing how Russia will mark May 9 in the fifth year of the major war with Ukraine.

In a number of cases, the authorities officially announced that they would not organize a parade; In other cases, this has become known from participants in previous years; In a number of cities, marches were not included in the official programs of the May 9 events.
