The truce in the Russian-Ukrainian war, announced by Trump, has ended

The truce, proposed by US President Donald Trump and agreed to by Russia and Ukraine, ended at midnight on May 12.

The ceasefire lasted from 9 to 11 May inclusive. Throughout the three days, both sides accused each other of violating it.

Thus, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky stated on May 10 that Russia had not carried out large-scale air attacks, but on the front line the Russian military “is not keeping silent and is not even really trying.” He added that Russian forces “continue their offensive activity in areas that are considered essential to them.”

In turn, the Russian Defense Ministry reported on the afternoon of May 11 that the Ukrainian Armed Forces “carried out strikes using drones and fired artillery on positions of Russian forces.” According to the ministry, Russian forces “responded in the mirror to the actions of the Ukrainian armed forces.”

Authorities in the Russian and Ukrainian regions – especially the Kharkov, Kherson, Belgorod and Kursk regions – reported deaths and injuries as a result of drone attacks.

Russian Presidential Assistant Yuri Ushakov said on May 9 that there were no agreements to extend the truce.

Donald Trump announced a three-day truce between Russia and Ukraine on the evening of May 8. He stated that this was his own proposal and thanked Vladimir Putin and Vladimir Zelensky for agreeing to it. Later, information about the agreement of the presidents in Moscow and Kiev was confirmed. Trump said: “This ceasefire will include a cessation of all hostilities, as well as a prisoner exchange for a thousand people from each country.” The prisoner exchange that the American President spoke about did not take place.
