Russia
On the night of June 16, Ukrainian drones attacked Moscow and the Moscow region again. The head of the Moscow region, Andrei Vorobyov, said that 86 drones had been shot down over the region. As a result of the drone attack, according to Vorobyov, six people were injured. Four of them are located in Electrostall, where drone debris struck an apartment complex, shattering windows from the fourth to the 16th floor. The Astra publication wrote that in Electrostal one of the buildings of the residential complex in the Northern Quarter caught fire during a drone attack.
Also according to Vorobyov, a 57-year-old man was injured in the Barkovy microdistrict of Kotelniki, and a 13-year-old girl was injured in the village of Tsypino in the Voskresensky District.
At night and early in the morning, all four Moscow airports – Sheremetyevo, Domodedovo, Vnukovo and Zhukovsky – were closed.
Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin also reported that dozens of drones were shot down as they approached the city. He wrote that as a result of the attack, “an object was damaged” on the territory of the Moscow oil refinery located in Kapotnya. No people were injured, according to the mayor.
Traffic in the streets adjacent to the refinery It has been blocked. At approximately 11:30 Moscow time, the Ministry of Emergency Situations reported that the fire at the refinery had been extinguished. The Ministry of Emergency Situations says: “The incident did not affect the work of the institution.”
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky described the drone attack on the refinery as “a fair response to the Russian strikes and a response to the prolongation of the war that must end.”
Ukrainian drones had previously attacked the Kapotnya oil refinery in mid-May, as part of one of the largest drone strikes against targets in Russia. Reuters reported that the Moscow refinery suspended its operations after the attack.
The Kapotnya refinery supplies almost half of the fuel needs of Moscow and the Moscow region.
Due to systematic drone attacks on the Russian oil refining industry, Reuters noted at the end of May, almost all large refineries in central Russia were forced to reduce production. Due to fuel shortages, even the largest networks of gas stations, including those in Moscow, have begun to impose limits.

Anonymous reader (RF). You have already arrived in my city. There is no fear for myself, but I feel sorry for others. None of us chose this.
The war has long since moved to a stage where no one (from the army) is spared. The Ukrainians crossed the moral line of “you can’t hit civilians” – unfortunately, this was to be expected. The infamous “why can they, but we can’t” argument has worked again, and again for the worse.
There is no one to discuss the war with. There is criminal liability for my opinions, so I remain silent. Even TV-minded relatives can’t be convinced of anything, but starting such conversations with strangers…
