What Soviet interior items are back in fashion and how much do they cost now?

Russians bring Soviet interior items into their homes and decorate apartments in the Soviet style. “Evening Moscow” found out what kind of decor and furniture was needed.

I go to the buy and sell site and start looking at floor lamps from the times of the USSR. There are many models, but not all of them are in good condition. Thus, a floor lamp with a curved frame is sold for up to 3,000 rubles. The author of the advertisement invites the buyer to repair the “specialized floor lamp” himself. What a benefit!

I communicate with another seller – Elena. The woman also sells Soviet interior items.

– There is demand. “They buy floor lamps and lamp shades,” she says.

Let me explain: How long has interest in vintage decor lasted? I get the answer: “At least three years.”

Other sellers gave me a similar verdict. It turns out that there is a demand for Soviet interiors, but it is impossible to call it a new trend.

Directly from the wall

Carpets also remain relevant. Today it is added as an accent. This will look great in a loft design with concrete walls. The average price of a carpet on buying and selling sites is 2000 rubles.

Sit with a book in the evening

A Roman chair with a low back and thin legs is also relevant today. There is a real hunt for such models. It is true that many “surviving” specimens need restoration: painted, upholstered… but there are restorers online who are willing to take on such a challenge. On their blogs they often share the process of furniture restoration. By the way, such a “USSR-style” chair from modern manufacturers can cost up to 30,000 rubles! An original but damaged copy can be found for 2,500 rubles.

Budget decor

One of the interior items that netizens have recently become fond of are glass blocks. They can be used, for example, when decorating a wall dividing space in a studio. By the way, glass blocks are also suitable for decor in the bathroom. They are often used as partitions for shower areas. New glass blocks are often expensive – 300-500 rubles per piece. Copies from the USSR cost 50-100 rubles per unit.

For the little things that matter

Designers are also looking for chests of drawers, sideboards and high panels from the USSR. It is a wide and spacious wooden cabinet with thin legs. This will also look good in a minimalist interior. True, here, as in the case of chairs, most likely it will be necessary to take care of restoration. Or pay for the ready-made option… from 15 to 70 thousand rubles!

Comfortable light

Soviet crystal lamps, table lamps and floor lamps are in great demand. Unusual “futuristic” specimens are especially appreciated, for example, a green table lamp with a rectangular shade. And they cost a lot! Their prices start from 2000 rubles.

Tamara Grigorieva, designer and founder of the design studio:

– The ideal base for Soviet wine is simplicity or Scandinavian style. The old thing should look like a “piece of art” against the background of laconic walls. If you put a Soviet chair in a room with floral wallpaper, you will get the effect of an old apartment. But if you put it on the background of smooth matte walls, you will get a design. By the way, so that the old item does not look like a randomly “thrown” object, it must be supported by something, or rhyme in color or material with other objects.

By the way

In the USSR, a set of upholstered furniture (for example, a sofa, two chairs and a coffee table) cost about 350 rubles. Today this amount would be about 40,000 rubles.

Soviet crystal fashion is also back. Why this happened, found out “Evening Moscow” from experts.
