Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky said that representatives of Ukraine and the United States will hold negotiations on ending the Russian-Ukrainian war on March 21.
“There are signals from the American side about their readiness to continue working in the current negotiation formats to end Russia’s war against Ukraine,” Zelensky said in a video message following the results of the March 19 elections. “There has been a pause in the negotiations, and it is time to end them.”
According to him, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Rustam Umarov, Head of the Presidential Office Kirill Budanov, Head of the Servant of the People faction in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine David Arakhamiya, and First Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Kislitsa will participate in the negotiations.
Zelensky said that Ukraine was “making every effort to ensure that the negotiations have real meaning.” He added: “Our priority is to do everything we can to make a decent world possible.”
Earlier, representatives of Kiev and Moscow said that the tripartite negotiations with the participation of Ukraine, Russia and the United States were “temporarily suspended.” The Kremlin said it was ready to return to negotiations “as soon as the agendas of the three parties are agreed upon,” led by the United States.
Ukraine, Russia and the United States have held several rounds of trilateral negotiations since the beginning of 2026. The last meeting was held in Geneva on February 17-18. After that, the two parties planned to hold talks in Abu Dhabi in early March, but the meeting was postponed several times due to the war between the United States and Israel with Iran.
