The exhibition “Russian Inevitability” opened at the Manege Museum and Exhibition Complex in St. Petersburg. It displays paintings by Vasnetsov, Vereshchagin, Repin, Petrov-Vodkin, and Kandinsky – as well as works by contemporary artists who, as the city’s deputy governor Boris Piotrovsky said, “reflect a special military operation” in their work. “The exhibition is dedicated to great Russia, to the Russian people who have always defended the country and are doing so now,” Piotrovsky said. Curator Anton Belikov He added: “The show is dedicated to the power that can tear you from home, from family and make you warriors.” Here are some pictures that illustrate what “Russian determinism” is.
