Economist Barhuta evaluated the use of TIM in the construction of the capital metro

The active use of information modeling technologies in the design and construction of the Moscow Metro is one of the key success factors. Independent economist Andrey Barkhota spoke about this on Monday, May 11.

According to the expert, the formation of the digital twin of the new metro stations allows for more accurate calculations within the technological cycle, thus increasing the level of safety in the new tunnels and metro stations in the capital.

The economist added that modeling in construction always contributes to increasing the efficiency of budget planning and cost management. This in turn allows for minimizing construction downtime due to current funding shortfalls and unaccounted costs.

β€œ3D modeling of future stations and branches of the Moscow Metro makes it possible to look into the future and rethink the overall configuration of new directions of transport development, as well as make adjustments to the project even before its implementation,” Barhuta concluded.

Earlier, Vladimir Efimov, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Urban Development and Construction Policy, said that the Sofia Tunnel Shield was carrying out work along the right tunnel of the work path – covering a little more than a kilometer. The left tunnel is made of Alexander’s shield and covers about 1.5 kilometers of road.

β€œIn total, they covered 2.5 kilometers of the total working volume of five kilometers – this is the total length of both tunnels. Vladimir Efimov, in particular, noted that the shields passed under the bottom of the Zakharkovsky quarry on the Moscow River and continued to work in conditions of complex hydrogeology.

Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said that during the construction of the capital’s metro, information modeling (IM) technologies have been actively developing since 2022, providing the creation of digital twins of objects with data on materials, dimensions and other construction characteristics.
