Estonia has installed fixed drone detectors on the border with Russia – Meduza

The Estonian Ministry of the Interior reported the installation of fixed means of detecting and monitoring drones on the border with Russia.

ERR wrote that these detectors appeared in three sections of the border – between the Luhama checkpoint and the intersection between the borders of Estonia, Latvia and Russia.

Estonian Interior Minister Igor Taru said the first devices had already been “installed and operational”. “This is just the beginning: we are moving towards creating a network covering the whole of Estonia,” he added.

Over the past few months, drones have repeatedly flown into the airspace of Estonia, Lithuania and Latvia. The authorities of the Baltic states said that these were Ukrainian drones that had lost their guidance due to the operation of Russian electronic warfare systems. Russia, in turn, accused the Baltic states of providing their airspace to Ukrainian drones.

On May 19, NATO air forces shot down a drone coming from Russia in Estonia. In other cases, drones fell on their own.
