Almost all live fish and fishery products supplied by Armenia are banned in Russia. Rosselkhoznadzor announced new restrictions.
According to the administration, officials inspected fish processing companies in Armenia and also visited trout farms. The inspection took place May 21-27. Meanwhile, officials say, 50% of companies refused inspection.
“Based on the results of the inspection, as of June 2, 2026, the Armenian side should suspend veterinary certificates for Russian recipients of live fish and fishery products from all Armenian companies, except for two companies that passed the inspection, until the current situation is resolved,” Rosselkhoznadzor stated.
Fish products will be allowed to be imported into Russia only from two inspected factories – and only “subject to laboratory monitoring of safety indicators.”
At the end of last May, Rosselkhoznadzor successively banned the import of a number of goods from Armenia: flowers, then Jermuk mineral water, vegetables, herbs, and strawberries. This ban comes amid preparations for parliamentary elections in Armenia, which will be held on June 7.
Relations between Armenia and Russia have deteriorated amid Yerevan’s rapprochement with Western countries and the European Union. Moscow and its allies in the Eurasian Economic Union (), which also includes Armenia, demanded that Yerevan hold a referendum on membership in the Eurasian Economic Union.
Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan responded maleAnd that at this stage there are no reasons to hold such a referendum in the country.
