Georgian police arrested a Russian citizen at Tbilisi airport, and a criminal case was opened against him in the United States. About this I mentioned TV Pirveli is the lawyer of detainee Beka Nemsitveridze.
About detention I mentioned Ministry of Interior of Georgia. According to the lawyer, the Russian woman is under investigation in the United States on several charges, including money laundering and complicity in criminal activity, and is linked to the supply of sanctioned aircraft spare parts.
According to Human Rights Council member Eva Merkacheva, the name of the detainee is Tatiana Kurashkevich. She is an entrepreneur, graduate student at MGIMO Diplomatic Academy, and international trade expert.
Merkacheva said: “I read that they are accusing her (her husband submitted the documents). Several points, all economic, related to circumventing sanctions, etc. Imprisonment sentences are indicated there – three terms of 20 years, and one – 10. A total of 70 years. <...> Her extradition (which the United States insists on) would be a violation of international law. I’d like to believe Georgia wouldn’t do that. “We are preparing to resume.”
Nemstridze stated that Kurashkevich came to Georgia as a tourist, and only learned about the criminal case in the United States at Tbilisi airport.
The Georgian Interior Ministry stated that the Russian woman is currently undergoing extradition procedures to the United States. According to Merkacheva, a court in Tbilisi arrested Kurashkevich.
