Anthropic raised $65 billion in its latest funding round, bringing its valuation to $965 billion.
Thus, Anthropic overtook its closest competitor, OpenAI, the developer of ChatGPT (valued at $852 billion in its latest investment round) – and became the most valuable AI startup.
For Anthropic, as The Hill notes, that’s a sharp jump: Three months ago, the company raised $30 billion at a valuation of $380 billion.
Both Anthropic and OpenAI plan to go public in 2026. Elon Musk’s SpaceX, one of its closest competitors, has already filed for an IPO, becoming the first of the three AI giants. SpaceX’s $1.25 trillion IPO is expected to be the largest in Wall Street history.
