Cirque du Soleil star Roman Monin will play the role of Prince Elisha in the new season of the circus theatrical show “Pushkin Dreams.” A large-scale cultural project will combine elements of classical theatre, circus art and complex balancing acts on one stage.
The audience is presented with a comprehensive artistic performance with profound dramaturgy and expressive staging, designed as an exciting journey through the labyrinths of the poet’s consciousness.
One of the most prominent summer performances is the participation of Monin, an international artist whose skills have been honed in major arenas around the world. He has eight years of experience with Cirque du Soleil, including leading roles in the show Corteo. The main performer of the project mastered a rare genre – balancing on a free-standing ladder.
– Elisha, to me, is the true embodiment of persistence. He has a big goal – to find the princess, regardless of any obstacles. My stunt of this kind of balancing on a free-standing five-meter ladder is not just acrobatics, but a physical embodiment of the obstacles that the hero overcomes for the sake of love. Every move, every move up the stairs is a long journey full of challenges across the whole world. I am really happy to join this project. “I am sure that such a presentation of the picture will truly captivate the audience and will allow us, together with the director, to completely immerse the viewer in this exciting fantasy world,” said Munin.
“Pushkin’s Dreams” is an exposition of a new form that meets the moral demands of our time, in which the place of trained animals has been taken by metaphor, avant-garde and human talent. The show can be viewed in the state-of-the-art space of Drogba University. After a large-scale reconstruction, the hall was transformed: the U-shaped formation of the stands and the absence of “blind spots” erase the barrier between artists and spectators, inviting everyone to visit the creative office of the brilliant poet.
