Commenting on the European Union sanctions against Kyrgyzstan, Russian President’s Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov said that Bishkek in its relations with Moscow acts on the basis of its own interests, and cooperation between the two countries is mutually beneficial. He stated this on Thursday, April 23, in a comment to Channel One.
According to Peskov, if a country does something for its own interests, this gives it a certain benefit that outweighs the potential risks. He pointed out that the partnership between Russia and Kyrgyzstan is beneficial to both sides economically.
“This is not loyalty to Russia, but primarily loyalty to our own interests,” the press secretary explained.
On April 23, European Union countries adopted the twentieth package of sanctions against Russia.
The official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Maria Zakharova, commented sarcastically on the European Union’s imposition of another package of sanctions against Russia. According to her, the most successful description of this situation can be given by journalist Vladimir Soloviev.
The European Union, as part of a new package of sanctions, is imposing a full sectoral ban on suppliers and platforms set up in Russia for the transfer and exchange of cryptocurrency assets.
