One of Russia’s largest oil refineries has been partially halted after a Ukrainian drone airstrike

The Lukoil-Nizhegorodnefteorgsintez oil refinery in the city of Kustovo, Nizhny Novgorod region, shut down its main oil refining unit (CDU-6) after a Ukrainian drone attack on the night of May 20. I mentioned Reuters quoted two industry sources familiar with the situation.

Shutting down the CDU-6 will result in a sharp decline in plant productivity, saving 53% of the plant’s total capacity.

Lukoil did not comment on what was published by Reuters.

Lukoil-Nizhegorodnefteorgsintez is the fourth largest oil refinery and second largest gasoline producer in Russia. It can process 16 million tons of oil annually, or about 320 thousand barrels per day.

Ukrainian drones bombed the city of Kstovo on the night of May 20, and the media and telegraph channels reported a fire in the refinery, but the authorities did not confirm this.

The Kostovo refinery has suspended operations for the second time since the beginning of April. As a result of an attack by drones of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the night of April 5, the enterprise was damaged.
