The new governor promised to turn on street lighting in Belgorod and restore mobile Internet

In Belgorod, city lighting will be turned on again from May 30, announced the new head of the region, Alexander Shuvaev. He also instructed “to resume the stable provision of mobile Internet services in Belgorod.”

In provinces and municipalities, the decision to operate lights and communications will be made by local administrations “taking into account the operational situation.”

“We continue to work to provide comfortable living conditions for our citizens,” Shuvaev wrote on his Telegram channel.

The Belgorod region and its regional center are subjected to regular attacks by the Ukrainian army. On the night of May 25, after a missile attack on Belgorod, water and electricity supplies were cut off.

45-year-old Alexander Shuvaev, before his appointment as acting head of the Belgorod region, was deputy governor of the Irkutsk region. Shuvaev is a participant in the war between Russia and Ukraine. As Belgorod Governor, he replaced Vyacheslav Gladkov, who had been heading the region since 2021.
