Ukrainian drones attacked 14 Russian ships on the night of July 12, said the Commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Robert Brovdi (“Madyar”). According to him, 10 oil tankers and four ferries were attacked.
In total, Brovdi claims that from July 6 to 12, Ukrainian drones attacked 90 Russian ships, which he described as part of them.
Brovdi did not specify the exact location where the Russian ships were attacked on the night of July 12. Attacks on oil tankers in the Sea of Azov and ferries in the Kerch Strait have previously been reported.
Russian authorities also reported Ukrainian drone strikes on oil tankers in the Sea of Azov. However, official statements by the Russian authorities indicate that the number of ships attacked by drones is much lower than the number of ships attacked by Provda. Thus, the head of the Rostov region, Yuri Slyusar, reported that an oil tanker had been attacked on the night of July 12.
Reuters reported on July 11 that Russian authorities, due to Ukrainian drone attacks, suspended navigation along the Azov-Don Canal, which connects the Don River to the Sea of Azov and is used by, among other things, grain exporters. The agency reminded that up to a quarter of total Russian wheat exports pass through the Sea of Azov.
