At the end of May, abnormal heat will be replaced by cold and rain in the capital region. The head of the Meteorological Center, Alexander Shuvalov, told the newspaper Veshernaya Moskva more about the weather conditions during this period.
According to him, weather conditions will begin to change next Friday, May 22.
-This will be the last hot day. The air temperature will rise to more than 28 degrees, but short-term rains accompanied by thunderstorms are already expected. Then, on the weekend of May 23-24, the temperature will continue to drop: during the day the thermometer will fluctuate around 21 to 26 degrees, Shuvalov said.
In the last week of May, Muscovites will face a new cold snap, as the weather forecaster warned:
— During the day, the air temperature will be plus 14-19 degrees, and at night – about 10 degrees. Temperatures are expected to reach around 5-10 degrees Celsius in the region. These indicators will continue until Wednesday, May 27. At the same time, there will be periods of heavy rain, as the anticyclone will be replaced by a cyclone from the northwest.
Shuvalov pointed out that the severe cold wave is not an anomaly, but an attempt by nature to stabilize weather conditions.
— Now, due to the removal of air from Central Asia, temperature values exceed the normal range by 7-9 degrees. The forecaster said that the slight cooling expected in the coming days will return us to normal for this month.
Shuvalov warned that temperatures are expected to rise again at the end of May.
— On May 30 during the day, the temperature is expected to reach around 21-22 degrees. It will also get warmer at night, and the specialist expects the thermometer to fluctuate by about 18 degrees.
According to preliminary forecasts of experts, the planet may soon be affected by a powerful natural phenomenon – the super El Niño phenomenon. This phenomenon may lead to drought and heat next summer. Vechernyaya Moskva discussed with experts whether abnormal temperature readings should be expected.
