The human rights group SK SOS reported on April 23 that Aisha Khizreva, a 21-year-old Chechen national, had left Russia.
Khizriyeva recorded a video message in which she thanked everyone for their support and indicated that she was fine.
As human rights activists have noted, it is not safe for Khizaryaeva to remain in Russia, because her pursuers may try to kidnap her again.
The day before it was learned that Khizrieva had fled Chechnya because of her father’s threats. She flew to Novosibirsk, where her friends met her, after which people from Chechnya tried to kidnap her, presenting themselves as police officers.
After that, Khizrieva contacted human rights activists and journalists, and also turned to the Novosibirsk police for help. After presenting the evidence, she said: I could Leave the police.
Chechen residents are increasingly trying to escape the republic from domestic violence, torture and police persecution. Relatives track them down and bring them home. There are several known cases in which girls died after returning to Chechnya.
