Authorities in the Russian-controlled part of Ukraine’s Luhansk region said 35 students were injured as a result of the attack on the college’s academic building and dormitory in Starobelsk.
In total, according to the head of the self-proclaimed Luhansk People’s Republic, Leonid Pasichnik, there were 86 children in the educational institution at the time of the strike.
Children may remain under the rubble that rescuers remove. Rescuers recovered two victims from under the rubble.
Shops, administrative buildings and private homes were also damaged in Starobelsk, according to Pashnik, and a man was injured.
According to Pashnik, Starobelsk was attacked by Ukrainian drones.
The Ukrainian Telegram channel Exilenova+ published photos from Starobelsk, showing, in particular, a severely damaged building with the inscription “Starobelsky Vocational College.” The same photos are also available on the Pasechnik channel in Max messenger.
Officially, Ukraine had not commented on the reports of a strike on the college as of press time.
