Pope Leo XIV accepted the resignation of Archbishop Paul Pizzi, Metropolitan of the Diocese of Our Lady of Moscow.
The head of the Catholic Church in Russia, Pavel Bezi, 65, resigned for health reasons, according to the diocese’s website.
The Pope appointed Auxiliary Bishop of the diocese, Nikolai Dubinin, as apostolic administrator. He will take over the administration of the diocese temporarily until a new archbishop is elected.
Pavel Pizzi is an Italian citizen. He heads the department of the Diocese of the Mother of God in Moscow since 2007.
