The head of the municipal district, Sergei Boyko, said that Tuapse will be ready to receive tourists during the holiday season. The official promised to clean the city beach, which was damaged by an oil spill after Ukrainian drone attacks, by June 1.
“Of course there will be a season. The coastline of our region is about 90 kilometers. What happens on one beach will not affect the other beaches. We will put this beach in order by June 1, and people who come to our city will be able to use it,” Boyko told the Solovyov Live channel (quoted by Kommersant).
He also claims that against the backdrop of the oil spill in Tuapse, the authorities did not record an abnormal rise in the number of people visiting hospitals. According to Boyko, “Western TV companies and bloggers” are spreading false information about the situation in the city.
Since mid-April, Ukraine has struck Tuapse four times. The main targets were the local oil refinery and the marine terminal that forms a single complex with the refinery. Because of the fires, “oil rain” fell several times in the city, and oil spills were found in the river and sea.
