European Union diplomatic official Kaja Kallas said that American diplomats left Kiev after Russia threatened to carry out strikes.
Callas told reporters that according to information received from the Ukrainian side, “All embassies, except one, remained in Ukraine. America has disappeared.”
The head of European Union diplomacy stressed that Russia’s threats to attack Kiev are an attempt at intimidation, and, in her opinion, they will not work.
The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, in turn, did not confirm Kalas’s words. “This is not true” quotes Representatives of “RBC-Ukraine” from the Ministry of Foreign Policy.
On May 25, the Russian Foreign Ministry threatened to strike “decision-making centers,” defense institutions, and command centers in the Ukrainian capital. The Foreign Ministry called on foreigners, including diplomats, to leave Kiev “as soon as possible,” and residents of the city “not to approach the military and administrative infrastructure of the Zelensky regime.” European Union Ambassador to Ukraine Katerina Maternova described the Russian Foreign Ministry’s statement as a “masterpiece of hypocrisy” and a “sign of despair.” She added that European diplomats have no plans to leave.
